Cultivate green spaces and protect mountain ecosystems.

Phillipines

The Global Hope Supporters in Pagadian, Philippines, celebrated International Mountain Day 2025 by planting 2,000 trees on December 7 together with the Pagadian City Environment Office.

Pagadian is a region with a high dependence on agriculture and a landscape that combines mountainous and lowland areas, making it vulnerable to extreme weather events driven by climate change. In response, approximately 95 supporters and citizens planted trees in Kagawasan Barangay, helping cultivate green spaces and protect mountain ecosystems. This event is part of the Forest of Hope campaign, carried out by the Church of God’s Global Hope Supporters with the caring heart of a mother to protect the environment of our global community.

The Forest of Hope campaign aims to restore forest ecosystems—sources of hope for humanity—and create a sustainable global environment. Through activities such as collecting forest waste, planting trees, removing invasive species, and clearing fire-hazard materials, volunteers help restore and strengthen forest ecosystems. The campaign also raises awareness of the need to protect green spaces through a joint generational declaration and an exhibition of panels on desertification prevention and wildfire awareness.

The campaign is being carried out from November through January in countries around the world, including Korea, India, the Philippiness, and Peru, in alignment with the purpose of International Mountain Day—recognizing the vital role mountains play in our lives and promoting positive change for mountain environments worldwide. This campaign is part of the Church of God’s climate change response initiative, one of its six major fields of social contribution. Global Hope Supporters are also committed to fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in various areas, including poverty and hunger alleviation, health and well-being promotion, and building sustainable and safe communities.
