Celebration of International Mountain Day 2025 in Yeongcheon, Republic of Korea.
In celebration of the 2025 International Mountain Day, Global Hope Supporters from seven cities in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, carried out a “Leaf Recycling Resource-Circulation Activity” on November 26 together with the Jayang-myeon Community Service Center in Yeongcheon, along the Yeongcheon Dam trail. Approximately 370 volunteers and citizens separated clean leaves from those collected, filling about 400 sacks and delivering them to the local government. By recycling fallen leaves—a valuable forest resource—into compost and using them to support local green-space management, the activity contributes to fostering a healthier forest ecosystem. This event is part of the Forest of Hope campaign, carried out by the Church of God’s Global Hope Supporters with the caring heart of a mother to protect the environment of our global community.
The Forest of Hope campaign aims to restore forest ecosystems—sources of hope for humanity—and create a sustainable global environment. Through activities such as collecting forest waste, planting trees, removing invasive species, and clearing fire-hazard materials, volunteers help restore and strengthen forest ecosystems. The campaign also raises awareness of the need to protect green spaces through a joint generational declaration and an exhibition of panels on desertification prevention and wildfire awareness. The campaign is being carried out from November through January in countries around the world, including Korea, India, the Philippiness, and Peru, in alignment with the purpose of International Mountain Day—recognizing the vital role mountains play in our lives and promoting positive change for mountain environments worldwide. This campaign is part of the Church of God’s climate change response initiative, one of its six major fields of social contribution. Global Hope Supporters are also committed to fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in various areas, including poverty and hunger alleviation, health and well-being promotion, and building sustainable and safe communities.
