Explore and imagine regenerative futures with mountains, to inspire solutions today.

Why come? You're passionate about mountains, curious about exploring their futures and believe that we can create incredible climate solutions today. Why be in-love with mountains? What do mountains mean to you? Mountains are essential beings in our lives: serving as home to glaciers and water cycles that nurture and feed human and non-human beings alike. These harsh but fragile eco-systems have been experiencing the impact of climate catastrophe for many years. Many of us continue to regard them as sacred spaces, yet they are increasingly commoditised with false assumptions that they can accommodate more people as climate and biodiversity break down. It's time to change our narrative about mountains, reconnect, restore and re-story our relationship with these wise giants. Who should join? If water plays any part in the value chain of your business, you need to come along. If you love mountains, even though you might not visited one. If you live on one or near one. If you run ...

Mountainous regions are significantly exposed to transboundary climate risks . Left unchecked, these risks could threaten countries’ societies and economies, damaging livelihoods, spurring inequalities, amplifying food and water insecurities, and impeding progress towards many of the Sustainable Development Goals and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Targets. For example, the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region spans eight countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan) and includes 12 major river basins (seven of them transboundary) that connect upstream and downstream areas through trade, culture, communication and resource management and support the livelihoods of nearly 2 billion people (Molden et al., 2017). The HKH region is vulnerable to transboundary climate risks that originate within the region (e.g. flooding, including from glacial lake outburst floods), and beyond it (e.g. food insecurity as a result of climate eve...
